Chevrolet has firmly planted its flag in the SUV market with a varied and vast lineup. Peddling everything from small crossovers to full-size behemoths, the Bowtie aims to fulfill every consumer’s needs. If the brand’s packed stable feels overwhelming, here’s a handy guide to the newest Chevy SUVs.

Buyers looking for a subcompact SUV might start with the Trax, the smallest among Chevy SUVs. It’s also the most affordable, starting at $21,700. Packing a 155-hp turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, it offers solid performance.

Granted, you won’t tear up the drag strip in this little crossover, but the Trax provides a firm ride and responsive steering. You’ll also get respectable gas mileage: 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Surprisingly, the Trax also offers ample space for tall drivers. In addition, expect an all-wheel-drive option and a well-designed infotainment system. It’s worth upgrading to the LT trim for features like cruise control and remote start.

Chevrolet previously killed the Trax but revived it for the 2024 model year.

Looking for a small SUV, but the Trax is too tiny? Try the Trailblazer, the largest subcompact crossover among Chevy SUVs, starting at $22,100. You’ll pay just $400 more than the Trax before upgrades, taxes, and fees. But you’ll get an arguably more attractive design and more features.

Car and Driver reviewers note that neither the 2023 Trailblazer’s 137-hp 1.2-liter engine nor the 155-hp 1.3-liter turbo-three is notably potent. But like the Trax, the Trailblazer provides responsive steering and solid handling.

The Trailblazer also offers an AWD option and numerous advanced safety features in options packages. Like the Trax, the Trailblazer has a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen, but buyers can upgrade to an 8.0-inch screen on higher trims. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Sirius XM integration are standard.

For the eco-conscious, there’s the 2023 Bolt EUV. The abbreviation stands for “Electric Utility Vehicle,” and the Bolt is a solid subcompact EV.

Chevrolet lists the 2023 Bolt EUV at an attractive $26,595 starting price. It packs a 65.0 kWh battery generating 200 hp and 247 miles of range on a full charge. The Bolt EUV also gets 115 MPGe.

In addition, this small electric crossover boasts a slew of attractive features that make it a compelling EV option. If you buy the Bolt EUV, you’ll find a vehicle with one-pedal driving, generous cargo space, and a 10.2-inch infotainment screen. Plus, the Premier trim has Super Cruise. And an app shows nearby charging networks.

Starting at $26,600, the Chevy Equinox is one of the most popular compact crossovers. With its 170-hp 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, the latest model offers a weaker powertrain than its predecessor. Yet it sports Chevrolet’s trademark handling and performance. Still, Car and Driver testers warn you might feel some jolts on rough roads and have difficulty pushing the Equinox confidently on long stretches of highway.

Getting 26/31 mpg city/highway, the Equinox also retains the decent fuel economy of its siblings. And it treats riders to a spacious cabin and well-designed storage spaces.

The Equinox has the same touchscreen options and tech features as the Trailblazer. But even if you’re not getting a Tesla-sized screen, amenities like standard 46G LTE Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and audio streaming are nothing to sneeze at.

Not to be confused with the Trailblazer, the Chevy Blazer comes in at $35,100 and sits between the Equinox and Traverse in size. It offers a choice of a 228-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine or a 308-hp naturally aspirated V6. Front-wheel-drive or AWD is available for both.

The Blazer sports attractive exterior styling, and whether you choose the inline-four or V6, you’ll get a Chevy SUV that performs well on city streets and highways. It also puts up respectable fuel economy numbers, with 22/29 mpg city highway for the inline-four and 19/27 mpg for the V6.

In addition, you’ll get a lot of cargo space, with 30.5 cubic feet behind the back row. Despite its larger size, the Blazer still offers only an 8.0-inch touchscreen. But it packs plenty of tech features for riders to enjoy.

Starting at $34,520, the 2023 Traverse is the smallest of the three-row Chevy SUVs. But it packs a potent powertrain. Its 310-hp V6 and nine-speed automatic transmission help this midsize crossover accelerate quickly and handle confidently.

If you’re looking for features, the Traverse offers them in abundance. Expect amenities like second-row captain’s chairs and heated exterior mirrors on the LT trim. Optional packages provide even more goodies, including heated front seats and a power liftgate.

The Traverse also boasts an intuitive infotainment system, multiple USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. You’ll get automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance standard. Still, you’ll need to buy a higher-level trim or a package for more than those advanced safety features.

Starting at $54,200, the full-size 2023 Chevy Tahoe provides much more space and power than the Traverse. Tahoe engines include a 355-hp 5.3-liter V8 and a 420-hp 6.2-liter V8. There’s even a 277-hp 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel. All pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel or four-wheel drive is available.

The Tahoe’s cabin provides up to eight riders with abundant space, including generous headroom and legroom in all three rows. Cargo capacity is 25.5 cubic feet behind the back row, 72.6 cubic feet with the back row folded down, and 122.9 cubic feet with both the third and second rows folded down.

As for infotainment features, expect a 10.2-inch touchscreen and a nine-speaker audio system standard. The base model provides a 4.2-inch information screen and gauges, but the LT trim and above boast a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Finally, consumers needing maximum space should consider the largest Chevy SUV, the Suburban. Starting at $56,900, this beast has the same powertrain options as the Tahoe but even more room.

Behind the third row is 41.5 cubic feet for gear, luggage, and groceries. Drop the back row down, and that increases to 93.8 cubes. And fold both the second and third rows down for a maximum cargo capacity of 144.7 cubic feet.

Tech features in the Suburban are mostly the same as those in the Tahoe. Expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on the LT trim and higher. In addition to providing Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, the Suburban also has Google Assistant, allowing riders to control the interior climate and infotainment system.
