The last thing anyone wants to hear on a flight is ... essentially everyone else who is also on the plane.

If you're in the market, here are nine of our best picks for travel headphones that are on sale only for the rest of Wednesday (Oct. 12) thanks to the Amazon Prime Early Access sale. Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 — $269 (regularly $379)

With a $110 discount, the hefty price tag of the Bose noise-canceling standard bearer is a lot more palatable. The brand's latest 700 headphones combine a stylish design with supreme functionality.

The standout features are impressive noise cancellation — which can be adjusted via the Bose app on a scale of 1 to 10 — intuitive controls and a long battery life; Bose advertises 20 hours but when tried and tested by frequent flyer and TPG points and miles reporter Kyle Olsen, it was closer to 12 1/2 hours.

They are available in luxe silver or black, and weigh just 9 ounces. The headphones offer wired and wireless connectivity that allows access to inflight entertainment systems and you can connect both your phone and laptop to Bluetooth simultaneously through the Bose app.

Bose QuietComfort Noise Cancelling Headphones — $229 (regularly $329)

Another over-ear option from Bose that's slightly less expensive is the QuietComfort headphones that come with both a Quiet Mode for full noise canceling and an Aware Mode so you can hear your music but also stay attuned to everything else going on in the world.

Currently available for $100 less than the retail price, you can pick these up in white or black and they advertise up to 24 hours of battery life with a 15-minute charge giving you three additional hours of use.

Bose SoundSport Wireless Earbuds — $89 (normally $129)

These popular wireless headphones have garnered more than 37,000 (mostly positive) reviews on Amazon.

They feature impressive noise cancellation and high-fidelity audio. They’re also sweat- and weather-resistant, making them a popular choice for running, workouts and other outdoor activities.

The structure of the earbud tips helps keep the headphones in place. Other features include easy connectivity to Bluetooth and near-field communication with voice commands and up to a six-hour battery life per full charge.

Beats Studio3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones — $169.95 (regularly $349.95)

At under $200, Beats Studio3 noise-canceling headphones are a pretty fantastic deal.

Standout features are the top-notch quality, around 22 hours of battery life and “fast fuel” recharge, which provides three hours of playback after just five minutes. With a cool design and variety of colors, they are also a nice fashion accessory. A cushioned headband and ergonomic fit add comfort and the headphones fold up neatly into a large pocket or the included soft case, which has a carabiner that can be attached to a carry-on if space is tight.

Beats Fit Pro — True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds — $159.95 (regularly $199.95)

Available with a $40 discount, these popular earbuds are made for comfort, whether you're taking calls or running miles. They come with three listening modes, are water-resistant and have up to six hours of listening time (up to 24 hours with a charging case).

Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) — $223 (regularly $249)

With what is officially Amazon’s lowest price ever on the second-generation Airpods Pro, these provide improved noise cancellation (twice as much, according to Apple), thanks to their M1 chip, and a redesigned acoustic vent and microphone. There’s also a new touch control that allows you to control your music and adjust the volume directly from the stem. But perhaps the greatest enhancement is the battery life boost, which gives you six hours of listening time per charge. The battery case provides a whopping 30 hours of listening time.

Apple AirPods (2nd generation) — $89.99 (regularly $159)

With a discount just shy of 50%, it might be time to test Apple's omnipresent, long-stemmed earbuds.

The second generation offers a few extra features over the original model, though naturally less than the $200-plus newest model. Convenient sensors allow you to pause and resume music by taking the earbud in and out, while the "Hey Siri" feature activates hands-free voice control. Apple advertises a battery life of about five hours, and the headphones come with a magnetically closing charging case. Note that the original buds do not have any noise-canceling capability like the Pros (above).

Sony WF-C500 Wireless Earbud Headphones — $58 (originally $99)

If you are looking for a solid pair of headphones around the $60 price mark, these are a great option. There have decent sound quality, a reliable 10-hour battery life — another 20 hours with the charging case — and they are water resistant. You can tailor the sound quality via the app and the ergonomic design will snugly fit most adults.

Soundcore by Anker Life P3i — $36.89 (originally $59.99)

At 40% off, this Amazon shoppers' favorite is a great deal when you just need headphones that will get the job done.

Anker’s Bluetooth, noise-canceling earbuds have plenty of bells and whistles, including four microphones to reduce external noise, customizable equalizer settings via the Soundcore app and a nine-hour battery life on a single charge (36 hours with the charging case). A quick 10-minute charge will also give you a two-hour battery boost.
